It is one of the busiest times of the year and we are all gearing up for the coming festival - Diwali. It is time to shop for gifts, bed sheets, home décor items, diyas and anything that can add a new touch to your life this year. So here is MetroMela’s list of Diwali exhibitions and fairs that are being held in and around Delhi.
The ongoing Simply Silver Exhibition is the perfect place to check out for silver items and silver plated products that are ideal for gifting. The exhibition is being held on the ground floor of Select Citywalk Mall, Saket and is being held by Episode. The items displayed here include Ganesha figurines, décor items, barware, dinner sets, tea sets and more. This exhibition is on till 17 Oct 2009 and from 11 AM to 8.30 PM.
The Blind Relief Association is conducting a special Diwali mela at Blind Relief School on Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, near Oberoi Hotel in Delhi. You can get almost anything and everything here. Clothes, footwear, kitchenware, home décor items, candles, diyas, accessories, jewelry, paintings, crockery and a number of other useful items are sold here. There are special chaat stalls and food stalls also that sell mouth watering delicacies like Rajasthani thali, kulfi, pastas etc. This year the mela starts from 7 Oct and will continue till 15 Oct 2009. You can visit anytime between 10.30 AM and 8 PM. No entry charges are levied here but parking space is difficult to find.
The most talked about is the Akshar Pratishthan Mela which is held at the Embassy of Switzerland on Nyaya Marg, Chanakyapuri, Delhi. It is a one day Diwali Crafts Mela which is being held on 10 Oct this year. Entry here is by passes only that can be collected from Akshay Pratishthan’s office at D-3, Vasant Kunj, Delhi. You can contact them at 011-26132565 to enquire about the fair that would start at 10 AM and continue till 9 PM. You can get a number of gift items for Diwali at this crafts mela which has a number of other events planned as well.
Don’t miss out on the Sunder Nagar Diwali Mela also which is said to be one of the authentic Diwali Melas of Delhi. The fair has stalls for food, amusement rides like giant wheel, games stall, stalls selling candles, home décor items, crockery, kitchenware and a number of other useful items. This year the fair would be held on Oct 10 and Oct 11 from 4 PM to 11 PM. The entry charges here are Rs. 70.
Epicentre in Gurgaon has its Diwali Mela from Oct 9-11. Guests here can enjoy shopping for apparels, colorful accessories, candles, diyas, stationery items, clothes, home décor items and Diwali products made by craftsmen.
